What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, is focused on healing shock trauma. It is based on the understanding that trauma does not live in the event itself, but in the frozen survival energy that remains stored in the nervous system.
Through ‘pendulation’ (moving between tension and safety) and ‘titration’ (working in small, manageable steps), I help your body release this stuck energy in a safe and controlled way. This allows your nervous system to find its natural balance again.

What exactly is Somatic Experiencing (SE)?

Do I have to relive my trauma?
No, absolutely not. In SE, avoiding retraumatization is essential. We work in small steps (‘titration’) and move between tension and relaxation. We stay in the here and now and follow the pace of your body, so your system is never overwhelmed.
What complaints does Somatic Experiencing help with?
SE is effective for both shock trauma (e.g. an accident or surgery) and developmental trauma (neglect or feeling unsafe during childhood). It helps with complaints such as anxiety, panic attacks, chronic pain, migraines, and feelings of hypervigilance or emotional numbness.
Does body-oriented therapy also work online?
Absolutely. Even via a screen, I can guide you in connecting with your body. Because you’re in your own familiar environment, many clients actually feel safer to tune in to what’s happening inside.
